The Director of Major Projects - Transmission & Distribution will oversee the successful delivery of large-scale T&D infrastructure projects. This role involves strategic oversight, stakeholder management, budget accountability, and leadership across multiple high-profile projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in project execution within the utility sector, specifically in transmission and distribution, and possess a strong track record in managing projects exceeding $100M.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Provide overall leadership, strategic direction, and accountability for the execution of major T&D projects from inception to completion.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, contractors, regulatory bodies, and clients to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Financial Management: Oversee project budgets, ensuring cost controls are in place and financial targets are met or exceeded. Provide accurate forecasting and reporting on project financials.
- Schedule and Performance Management: Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope by proactively identifying and mitigating risks, addressing performance gaps, and applying best practices in project management.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, environmental guidelines, and safety protocols across all project phases.
- Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing project team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Innovation and Efficiency: Drive innovation in project delivery methods, leveraging new technologies, and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in utility infrastructure with a strong focus on major transmission and distribution projects.
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing large teams, with the ability to drive performance and foster collaboration across cross-functional groups.
- Project Management: Extensive experience in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) with a successful track record of delivering multi-million dollar projects.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of T&D infrastructure, construction, engineering, and related regulatory requirements.
- Financial Acumen: Demonstrated capability in managing budgets and financial reporting, including cost control and resource allocation.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
